What even is “inline” dual-launching ?
It is the idea of using only one ripcord instead of two for dual-launch training sessions :
- No need for a complicated link between ripcords
- Easier to slide the ripcord in
- Easier to make sure the beys remain attached to the launcher.
This idea wasn’t mine, somebody on reddit suggested it to me when i was asking for feedback on another design.
I wonder if you couldn’t put them in-line so you could launch both. Oriented like the Saber Launcher… — Reddit comment from u/Franky_V2
I wasn’t immedieatly convinced, but it sounded promising enough to give it a try.
I’m just worried that the “front” one would get less revolutions than the second cause there would be less ripcord length passing through it. — my response to him
And later, after having printed a few, i liked using them so much that i didn’t take the time to seriously test wether there is a bias in this setup. Does the front slot actually gets less energy than the back one, skewing the results and leading you to falsely believe one bey is a better combo than the other when in fact, it just was launched ever so slightly faster ?
Does inline dual launching create a front/back slot bias in Beyblade X combo testing ?
I had to know. I decided to stop guessing and actually test it.
Experimental Setup
To isolate launcher bias, I controlled for as many variables as possible:
- 1 inline dual proto launcher (single ripcord, the winder 81 teeth)
- 2 strictly identical Beys (Leon Claw 5-60P White & Black, used only for tracking)
- Same stadium
- Same launcher
- Same person launching
- 100 total battles
Even if the two blades are “the same”, we all know that some are molded slightly heavier than others, and i had to take that into account as well, so i decided i would “rotate” them to remove that expermiental bias:
- 50 battles with White in the Front slot
- 50 battles with White in the Back slot
I’m pretty confident this should avoid us measuring anything but launcher differences.
Win types were recorded as:
- Outspin (stamina finish)
- Pocket/Burst
- Extreme finish
- Draw
Results
Overall Results over 100 rounds
| Category | Rounds | Front Slot Wins | Back Slot Wins | Draws |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Total | 100 | 33 | 61 | 6 |
| Outspin | 44 | 7 | 37 | — |
| Pocket or Burst | 23 | 13 | 10 | — |
| Extreme Finish | 27 | 13 | 14 | — |
I was actually very surprised to record than much extreme finishes. Pocket/Burst and Extreme finishes were roughly balanced, which suggests that explosive outcomes aren’t affected much by slot position. Most of them seemed to happen at randow to my eye, but us humans aren’t that great at crunching data in our heads and often see patterns where there are none.
Decisive battles breakdown
Removing draws gives 94 decisive battles, and i wanted to
| Slot | % of Decisive Battles (94) | % of Stamina Battles (44) |
|---|---|---|
| Front Slot | 35% | 16% |
| Back Slot | 65% | 84% |
The most important signal here is stamina, the battles when the outcome is most determined by launch speed, and the ability of the bey to conserve it. Given both beys are the same model, i’d say launch speed is the main factor here. 16% vs 84% for the back spot is no small difference here.
Because each Bey spent equal time in both slots, this strongly suggests the Back slot may have a mechanical advantage.
Color Totals (Across Both Slots)
| White Wins | Black Wins |
|---|---|
| 55 | 39 |
It seems that one bey is consistently winning more than the other one but with so few battles it’s actually hard to know if this is pure luck or an actualt balance or weight difference. What this result seems to indicate is that i was right to switch the beys after 50 battles.
Is This Definitive Proof?
No. It’s only evidence from a 100-round sample. The results don’t seem that conclusive to me.
To be fully conclusive, this experiment should be replicated:
- By other players
- With other dual launchers
- With different Bey combinations
- With 200+ battles
Replication is everything.
Try It Yourself
If you want to test your own launcher:
- Use two identical Beys.
- Run at least 100 battles.
- Alternate which Bey is in front every round (or split evenly like I did).
- Track stamina finishes separately.
- Ignore draws when calculating percentages.
Then compare:
- Front vs Back total wins
- Stamina-only results
- Individual Bey totals
If multiple people see the same pattern, we’re no longer looking at randomness. I’d be very pleased to hear about your results on r/BeybladeX
